2024–2025 Season Announced

Island Voices Chamber Choir, with conductor John Hooper, is delighted to embark upon its 2024–2025 season, full of exciting, interesting, and meaningful performance repertoire. Three main concert sets are complemented by additional appearances designed to offer choral music to wider audiences.

“Come, Listen!” The theme of Island Voices Chamber Choir’s first concert of the season is an invitation to hear a cappella choral pieces, from traditional historic works to those based on contemporary harmonies and lyric melodies. The Youth A Cappella Experience, where local young people are invited to join Island Voices for selected works, builds on the inaugural project from last spring.

In the spring, “Anything Can Happen” as the choir will present music embracing a range of ideas and sounds. The choir’s exploration of the world of a cappella singing continues to find surprising musical expressions.

The choir’s annual encore concert will take place “by the sea” with performances on Quadra Island and in Fanny Bay. While some may have heard it before, others will have the chance to hear audience and choir favourites from earlier in the year. Many have appreciated getting a second take on Island Voices repertoire.

In addition to Island Voices main concerts, the choir will appear at a few special events.

Woodland Gardens annual Carol Walk is scheduled for December 18th and 20th, where the members and friends of the choir present traditional carols and songs of the season outside in the magical atmosphere of lights at Woodland Gardens.

Island Voices will partner with the Comox Valley Children’s and Youth Choirs in “SongShare” where the choirs sing with each other and perform for each other, as well as for guests, in a family friendly environment.

Island Voices gets to join with two other fine Vancouver Island choirs in Parksville for “Choir in Triplicate” with Island Bel Canto from Nanaimo and Oceanside Consort from Qualicum.
